Gangavathi-M’lore bus service

The Mangalore unit of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has started Rajahamsa bus service between Mangalore and Gangavathi via Udupi, Kundapur, Bhatkal, Kumta, Ankola, Yellapur, Hubli, Gadag and Koppala.

According to a press release, the bus would leave Mangalore at 8 pm to reach Gangavathi at 9 am on the following day. In its return journey, the bus would leave Gangavathi at 4.45 pm to reach Mangalore on the following day at 5.45 am.

The tickets have been priced at Rs 400 to Gangavathi, Rs 365 to Koppal, Rs 320 to Gadag and Rs 280 to Hubli. The tickets may be booked at Mangalore, Udupi, Kundapur bus station besides all ‘Avthar’ centres, the release added.

Applications for tourist guides

The Tourism Department has invited applications for the post of tourist guides in the following places: Mangalore - 4; Pilikula Nisargadhama - 4; Kollur - 2; Subramanya - 2; Moodbidre - 2; Karkala - 2, Udupi - 2; and Barkur - 2.

According to a press release, the applicants should be locals and they should have fair knowledge on history, art, folk and cultural knowledge of the district. Proficiency in English and a PUC pass is a must. The last date to submit the application is July 31.

Those selected will be imparted a 30-day free training at St Aloysius Evening College. The applications may be sent to Regional Tourism Office, Udupi or Tourism Office, MCC Building, Lalbagh, Mangalore.

Rank holders feted

Former president of Institute of Company Secretaries of India in New Delhi Dr P V S Jaganmohan Rao visited the Institute’s regional chapter office in Mangalore on June 15.

Mr Rao felicitated Rajesh Pai and Bhavya Parvati who have secured 1st and 19th ranks respectively in the June 2006 session of final examinations of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. Chapter Chairman Ullas Kumar Melinamogaru was present on the occasion.
