Yet another dog bite case was reported on Thursday as a pack of stray dogs pounced on a 30--year-old woman at NGF Layout. Lakshmi, a domestic help, suffered injuries on the leg as dogs pounced on her while she was on her way to work.
Lakshmi said on two occasions, stray had tried to attack her daughter.
Residents complained the BBMP had done little to control stray dog menace in the locality.
Sridhar, KPTCL engineer and a resident of Nagarbhavi, said despite repeated complaints about stray dog menace, nothing has been done.
The Bangalore City Youth Congress Committee staged a protest in front of the BBMP central office demanding immediate steps to control the stray dog menace.
They also shouted slogans against the government and the BBMP and demanded a compensation of Rs 1 lakh for Hemalatha, a two-year-old girl who was attacked by stray dogs on June 19.
Dog census
Meanwhile, the BBMP, which took up dog census in association with Bangalore City Saksharata Samithi and Department of Animal Husbandry, has completed counting of 49,283 dogs here.
According to facts available up to June 18, members of literacy committees have covered 3.24,139 houses. Among the dogs counted, 24,491 are street dogs and 17,480 pet dogs.
The census began on June 11.
Samithi secretary M H Sreedhar Murthy said the remaining houses will be covered before June 30.
