A day after it strongly defended its role, JetLite, a division of Jet Airways, on Thursday apologised to cerebral palsy patient Rajiv Rajan for offloading him from a Delhi-bound flight in Chennai on Monday.
In a public apology the airline, which now runs the Air Sahara, said it would sensitise its staff to the special needs of people with disability. It said: “We regret the inconvenience caused to Rajiv Rajan. We will train our staff to be sensitive towards people with special needs. We apologise for the inconvenience.”
The NGO activist, Mr Rajan, was made to wait 3 hours at the Chennai Airport and was not allowed to board the flight because airline officials considered him unfit for travel.
The officials told him that he needed a medical clearance or an escort.
