Nilekani passes Infosys baton to Gopalakrishnan

Nandan Nilekani after completing five years tenure as CEO of Infosys has voluntarily passed on the baton to Kris Gopalakrishnan.

Kris Gopalakrishnan is Infosys Technologies’ new chief executive officer (CEO). Nandan Nilekani after completing five years tenure as CEO of Infosys has voluntarily passed on the baton to Kris. Nilekani will be the co-Chairman of the board of directors assisting Mr Gopalakrishnan to focus on client relationship, be a brand ambassador and build on strategies for sustainability. Also S D Shibulal will become the Chief Operating Officer (COO), this was revealed by N R Narayana Murthy, Chairman & Chief Mentor, Infosys Technologies on Friday, while speaking at the 26 Annual General Meeting of Infosys

Employer of choice

“Our customer-centric approach has helped us sustain about 95 per cent revenues from repeat business. Also our client base has grown to 500 at the end of the year, adding 160 new clients,” added Mr Murthy.
Commenting on business from various geographies, Mr Murthy said, “European business contributed 26.4 per cent of total revenues, while Infosys Australia grew by 39 per cent and Infosys China served 30 clients, reporting a revenue growth of almost 130 per cent.”  Infosys continued to be the employer of choice, as the company received over 13 lakh applications in the last financial year and made approximately 36,700 offers of employment. Speaking on the investment in physical and technological infrastructure Mr Murthy said, “Our global education centre at Mysore is among the largest corporate training facilities in the world. Phase II of this corporate training facility will be completed in December 2007. On completion this will have about 2 million sq ft of space and provide residential and classroom capacity to train 13,500 trainees at a time.”
