With a view to clear extra rush on the Chennai- Mangalore route , Southern Railway is running tri-weekly special trains between Chennai and Mangalore.

According to a press release issued by the Southern Railways (Palghat Divisional Office) on Friday, the Chennai Mangalore Superfast tri-weekly specials are numbered 0661 and 0662 and consist of an AC two-tier coach, an AC three-tier coach, nine sleeper class coaches, four general second class and two luggage cum brake vans.

The special trains on the route will be starting from Chennai at 5 pm on June 23, 26 and 30 and will reach Mangalore at 9.10 am the next day.  The train from Mangalore will depart at 5 pm on June 24, 27, 29 and July 1 and will reach Chennai at 8.45 am the next day, the release added. Four other trains are running in the route presently.
