MRPL conferred ‘Mini Ratna I’
Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), a subsidiary company of ONGC Limited, has been conferred the “Mini Ratna Category I” status by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India. MRPL will now enjoy greater autonomy as defined in the DPE guidelines, according to a press release.
MCA course granted
Shree Devi Institute of Technology has been granted permission from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, to start the MCA course during the academic year 2007-2008, with an intake of 60 students.
The college is at present running the following branches in Engineering: Computer Science & Engineering; Information Science & Engineering; Electronics & Communication Engineering; and Mechanical Engineering.
All the courses are affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, the release added.
JCI Mangalore bag awards
JCI Mangalore bagged four awards at the first regional conference held at Udupi recently. The awards include Outstanding LOM award, Winner of banner display contest, 100 per cent participation award and outstanding LOM President award for Hrishikesh Kamath. Zone President Anil Kumar of Zone 15 distributed the prizes.

Commerce professor at Besant Women’s College Dr Sudha Kornginnaya participated in the conference ‘Co-operative Innovation: Influencing the social economy’ jointly hosted by Canadian Association for Studies in Co-operation (CASC), the Association of Co-operative Educators (ACE) and International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) Research Forum and organised by Centre for the Study of Co-operatives of University of Saskatchewan in Canada.
