Which glass for the fruit punch? Which spoon for the dessert? What topic for small talk? For every Bangalorean who moves in the party circle, these questions taunt them endlessly.
This week, a group of socialites, students and a few regular party goers decided to become knowledgeable about what to do at a party. Director of Protocol Centre for Confidence Building, Kauser Khan, conducted a half-day workshop on party etiquette. It covered various aspects of the dos and don’ts at a party along with teaching the participants how to be a gracious host.
The first component of the workshop taught the women how to interact with guests at a party.
A group activity followed in which the participants were asked to plan a theme based party and Kauser helped fine-tune the ideas that were put forward by the participants. Then came the longest and the most important session — lunch — that was planned out as an activity. Kauser led the women through everything from differentiating between various glasses to which cutlery to use as well as table manners. The final session was the party make-up where women were allowed to go through a range of beauty products as well as get tips on what to wear. And not just that, there was also personal consultation for each participant. The workshop was indeed beneficial to the participants mainly because it was interactive. “My sessions are always interactive. I try to get people to participate because it’s the best way to learn and of course, it’s much more interesting than a lecture,” says Kauser. Kauser Khan’s institute has various workshops and courses in etiquette and grooming. For details on courses call: 9900137030.
