BCCI scraps one-day tourney for U-19s
Mumbai, PTI:

   The Board of Control for Cricket in India  (BCCI) has decided to do away with the Vijay Hazare Trophy Inter-Zonal one-day competition for under-19 cricketers from the forthcoming domestic season.
   The trophy in memory of the former Test captain will now be awarded to the Ranji one-day champions.
   The BCCI has also increased the duration of matches in the Cooch Behar (U-19) Trophy and Col C K Nayudu (U-22) Trophy from three to four days each.
   In another major change decided at the BCCI’s Tours and Programmes Fixtures Committee meeting, the Board has split the Polly Umrigar Trophy U-15 tournament into the Elite and Plate format on the lines of the Ranji Trophy.
   This year, there will be a tournament for U-19 and senior women too, said BCCI’s chief administrative officer Ratnakar Shetty. The season will commence with the Irani Cup tie between Ranji Trophy winners Mumbai and Rest of India at Rajkot from October 1-5.

The Ranji Elite and Plate division groups are:

Elite: Group A: Mumbai, Karnataka, Delhi, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Saurashtra and Himachal Pradesh.
Group B: Bengal, Baroda, Hyderabad, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Andhra and Orissa.
Rounds: 1st: Nov 4-7. 2nd: Nov 12-15. 3rd: Nov 20-23, 4th: Nov 28-Dec 1; 5th: Dec 6-9, 6th: Dec 14-17; 7th: Dec 22-25. Semis: Jan 2-6, 2008; Final: Jan 13-17.

Plate: Group A: Assam, Gujarat, Vidarbha, Kerala, Services and Tripura. Group B: Railways, Haryana, Goa, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand.
Rounds: 1st: Nov 4-7, 2nd: Nov 12-15, 3rd: Nov 20-23, 4th: Nov 28-Dec 1. Semis: Dec 15-19; Final: Dec 26-30.

Other tournaments: Irani Cup: Oct 1-5: Mumbai v Rest of India, Rajkot. N K P Salve Challenger Series: Oct 24-27 (Venue to be finalised).

Duleep Trophy League stage (Venues to be finalised): 1st round: Jan 24-27, 2008; 2nd round: Feb 1-4; 3rd round round: Feb 9-12; Final: Feb 17-21.

Inter State one day league: Feb 26-Mar 7, 2008. Prof D B Deodhar Trophy one day event: Mar 14-26, 2008. Inter State one-day knockout: April 2-12, 2008.
