The Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC) on Friday organised a Christian Rights Rally against the persecution of Christians in the country. The rally brought together victims of religious persecution from across the country, Dr Sajan George, President, GCIC, told Deccan Herald.
Dr George said several victims, including Lakshminarayan, a Christian worker who was recently attacked in Bangalore, were present. They also submitted a memorandum to the President through Governor T N Chaturvedi.
The demands included an independent probe into atrocities against Christian minorities in India, alleged discriminatory attitude by the police and judiciary with regard to the atrocities and baseless reports against Christians that led to hate crimes in several states.
