Even as many of the derecognised primary schools are contesting the propriety of Inspection Committee reports being relied upon for derecognition, an education trust has moved the High Court against derecognition of its ‘yet-to-begin’ school, for violating the rule relating to instruction medium.
The writ petition by KK Education Trust of Kadabgere, Dasanapura Hobli, Bangalore North, stated that it had secured the Education Department’s nod to run a pre-primary and a primary school in April 2006.
The pre-primary school was started from 2006-07 but, the primary school was not yet started. However, the authorities have ‘derecognised’ this school and also issued a notice, asking it to subscribe to the voluntary scheme for fresh recognition.
Justice B S Patil ordered notices to the State Government and education authorities on the plea.
Principal summoned
The court has ordered the Principal of SJM Institute of Technology (SJMIT) to appear before it on July 10 along with documents pertaining to one of its students, who had alleged delay in publication of his results.
The order came on an appeal by Kuvempu University (KU) which challenged a single-judge order of September 16, 2006, that had directed it to publish the marks of Ramakrishnaraju (for a subject in the eighth semester of the engineering course).
Following ‘absence’ of the answer scripts, the single judge had ordered KU to announce his marks in the subject by taking the average of his marks in other subjects.
KU contended that the student had not attended the particular exam held in 1999. It alleged that he had produced ‘concocted’ documents before the court with “connivance at the college level”.
The Bench headed by Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph summoned the college principal along with the documents for the hearing posted to July 10.
Darga land row
The Shah Khadri of Darga-e-Hazrath Syed Sultan, Bangalore, has challenged the BBMP action in making out the khata of Chote Maidana, a piece of land adjacent to the darga on Hospital Road, Shivajinagar, in the name of government.
The petitioner claimed that the vacant space near the tomb, numbered as CTS No 42, belonged to the darga while challenging the BBMP order that termed the 165-sq-feet plot as government land.
