Seer likely to be discharged today
The condition of Sri Sri Shivakumar Swamiji of Siddaganga Math, Tumkur has considerably improved and in all probability, the seer will be discharged from hospital on Saturday.
Dr Col R D Holla, senior physician, Manipal Hospital, on Friday, told Deccan Herald that the seer’s health is considerably better. “We will do an X-ray on Saturday to find out about his chest infection.
If it has cleared completely, we will discharge him by the evening. In case it has not, we will request him to stay for two more days,” said the doctor.
The Swamiji was admitted to Manipal Hospital with fever and chest infection. His condition has been improving steadily since then.
Special officers for new districts

The State government on Friday transferred two IAS officers and appointed them as special officers for the creation of Ramanagar and Chikkaballapur districts with immediate effect.
N S Channappa Gowda, who was CEO of Mysore Zilla Panchayat, has been transferred as the Special Officer for Ramanagar district, while S Dayashankar, who was Joint Commissioner of Commercial Taxes (Intelligence), has been posted as the Special Officer for Chickaballapur district.
CCTV surveillance for M’lore port
Mangalore, dhns: The New Mangalore Port reached another milestone on Friday as it became the second major port in India to have CCTV Surveillance System, only after the Chennai Port.
Joint Secretary (Ports) of the Department of Shipping in the Union Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways Rakesh Srivastava inaugurated the system, established at a cost of Rs 34.5 lakh.
The New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) that has already been termed as an ISPS Compliant Port, possessing the ISO 9001:2000 certificate for its quality and management, has now added another feather to its cap by having the CCTV Surveillance System.
