The Pre-University Education Board has set a new precedence by starting counselling of principals in government colleges, almost on the lines of Common Entrance Test (CET) counselling. However, this new system has agitated some principals.
According to sources, on Friday, for the first time, the Board started counselling of principals to give them postings in the colleges of their interest. Of the 138 principals scheduled to attend the session, as many as 130 principals from various parts of the state came to the PU Board office at Mal-leswaram at 10 am and attended counselling.
The PU Board, for the first time, gave options to the principals to select colleges of their choice.
The principals were invited for counselling on merit basis and they were given the posting in those colleges where there was vacancy.
This system ,however, seemed odd to some people, who questioned the need for introducing the system.
Requesting anonymity, some principals said they suspected foul play in the process.
‘Transparent’
When contacted, Commissioner of PU Board S G Hegde said there was no reason for principals to get agitated as, for the first time, they were given the option to select colleges of their choice.
This transparent system also reduced possibilities of unwanted transfers, Hegde poined out.
