The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) board at its meeting held on Friday resolved to take note of the observations made by the Ministry of Civil Aviation in its letter with regard to the architecture and infrastructure of the upcoming greenfield airport at Devanahalli.
The Ministry had raised concerns over the design and facilities to be offered to passengers at the airport. The board has authorised the management to initiate “appropriate measures” to comply with the recommendations by the Ministry.
The recommendations will be incorporated, subject to the availability of unutilised budgets earmarked for the airport, sources told Deccan Herald. BIAL will continue towards meeting the commitments within the framework of available timeliness and contractual obligations, the sources added.
The Ministry had in the letter noted that the airport has the “look-feel of a factory and not that of an international airport” and that it lacked the “human touch”.
