PRIVATE SECTOR TO PLAY A MAJOR ROLE: MEIRA KUMAR
Bangalore, DHNS:
The private sector is expanding and attaining global dimensions as the government has done a lot for it in terms of rebates and concessions, Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Meira Kumar said.

Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Meira Kumar said the private sector could play a major role in creating an inclusive society and urged the sector to join hands with the government to ensure the welfare of marginalized groups.

Ms Kumar was speaking at the STP Graduation Day on Saturday, the programme under which 89 SC/ST students were given special training in partnership with the Indian Institute of Information Technology(IIIT-B) and Infosys.

The private sector is expanding and attaining global dimensions as the government has done a lot for it in terms of rebates and concessions she said.

It is high time the sector supplement the government's efforts in creating inclusive society in which the marginalized and the deprived sections of the society get equal opportunity to participate and contribute to economic growth and development, the Minister said. Non-Executive Chairman and Chief Mentor, Infosys, Narayana Murthy said the pilot initiative taken by the company was a great success.
