Rural transport connectivity on demand: Transport Authority

Regional Transport authority Deputy Commissioner Dr Ravishankar has directed transport authorities to make necessary arrangements for rural people and connect more routes for their convenience.


District level Regional Transport authority meet, held here on Thursday, at Deputy Commissioner's auditorium, decided to provide rural transport facility as per the requirements and demand  of the people.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Ravishankar who presided directed transport authorities to make necessary arrangements for rural people and connect more routes for their convenience. He also asked them to restrict plying of private jeeps and instead take buses to rural areas.

He further directed to run additional  buses to Sindhanur, Manvi, Deodurga and Raichur taluks where there is huge demand as the commuters are more here.

The transport officer said that buses will run from Anwari route to Raichur's Gillesugur, Deodurga,Thinthani, and Yeragera routes. The meet also decided to  take action and issue notice to garage shop owners who were encroaching the roads and creating problem to the public.

Auto meet

Deputy commissioner also suggested to conduct a separate meet with  members of various Auto drivers  association to discuss compulsory registration of autorickshaws, auto stands in the city limits, following transport rules, meter induction and various other issues.

Pre-paid auto centres

Meeting decided to re-open autorickshaw pre- paid centres in the first week of July  at the city central bus stand. Further it was decided to open new pre-paid counters even at railway station.

Transport Officer Shivaraj Patil informed the meet that city limits auto stands had been limited from 55 to 35 and and auto fares had been revised and took permission from authority to increase to Rs12  for first two kms.

Sand transportation

On complaint from public that a private owner at Cheekalaparvi village of Manvi taluk is damaging roads by transporting sand, it was decided to take details from senior geologists and check license for transportation.

It was also decided to levy tax to ZP if  rural roads are being used for sand transportation. It also suggested to open check post and appoint staff to check additional weight and other matters.

District Superintendent of Police Padmanayana, Additional Superintendent of Police Rajagopal, Regional transport officer Shivaraj Patil, Road Transport department DC Venkataramana, Municipal commissioner and officials were present.
