The absence of the youth in theatres even during their holidays is conspicuous in May, but blame it on the heat wave that the entire northern belt is reeling under. This is the reason why top producers do not release their films in a big way. However, out of the eight releases this summer, Shoot out at Lokandwala turned out to be a winner. The response for other releases like Yatra, Life in Metro, Good Boy Bad Boy, Raqeeb- Rivals in Love, Ek Chatis Ki Last Local and Cheeni Kum was very poor.
Actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Tabu coupled with Paresh Rawal could not inspire audience to patronise Cheeni Kum which released in the same week as Shootout. Yatra was an utter flop. Ronnie Screwala’s UTV’s Life In A Metro could not sustain initial good respose.
Good Boy Bad Boy too was not a hit. Abhay Deol-Neha Dhupia starrer Ek Chalis Ki Last Local could not inspire the audience.Jimmy Shergil, Rahul Khanna, Tanushree Dutta starrer Raqeeb could not make the grade.
The winner at the box-office was Hollywood’s Spiderman 3. Spiderman 3 dubbed in Hindi and other regional languages.
The remarkable thing is that the film was also dubbed in languages like Bhojpuri and Marathi.
Undoubtedly, Hollywood has expanded the Indian market by dubbing their hit films in several languages to reach out maximum number of audience.
Their game plan has paid off so well that it has become biggest hit of the year as it had taken a terrific opening all over the country, especially since Hollywood is renowned for its action and mind blowing graphics and special effects.
