KODAGU DISTRICT
Rain recedes in Madikeri
DH News Service, Madikeri:
Though the rain got active in the afternoon, it did not continue with all its sound and fury in the district and the flow in the rivers and streams have been slightly abated.

The force of the ‘Aridra’ rain appeared to have come down in the district on Sunday. Though the rain got active in the afternoon, it did not continue with all its sound and fury. The flow in the rivers and streams have been slightly abated.

Flood situation in famous pilgrimage Bhagamandal is under control and Bhagamandal- Madikeri road which was cut-off due to heavy rain is back to its earlier condition. Vehicles plied as usual.

The water level was constant only at the Triveni Sangama. However, winds continued to be strong throughout the day. Power supply had been disrupted in Bhagamandala till noon on Sunday.

The proportion of rain has declined in Talacauvery too, the place of river Cauvery’s origin. A total of 189.4 mm of rain has been received in Talacauvery; it is 153.4 mm in Bhagamandala.

Kutta (117mm), Srimangala (70.4), Ponnampet (80), Gonikoppal (45), Virajpet (75.2), Somwarpet (75.4), Napoklu (91.6), Shanivarasanthe (96.9) and Madikeri (95mm) received fairly wll rains.

The Kootuhole, the prominent source of drinking water to the city, is overflowing with sufficient water. The village areas have still remained under darkness as the electricity supply system is yet to be set right.
No casualties has been reported in the district.

NO SCHOOL TODAY

Holiday has been declared for all primary and high schools on Monday, in the view of heavy rain falls. “Though holiday had been announced, some of the educational institutions did not give holidays on Saturday. Hence, another day has been declared as holiday on Monday,” stated DDPI Mohammed M Bashir in a release.
