CONFERENCE
'Ample scope for research in linguistics'
DH News Service, Mysore:
Prof Gangi Shetty Lakshminarayana, Vice Chancellor of Dravidian University said plans are afoot to support young enthusiasts interested in conducting research in linguistics.

Emphasising on lack of awareness in the area of linguistics, Prof Gangi Shetty Lakshminarayana, Vice Chancellor of Dravidian University said plans are afoot to support young enthusiasts interested in conducting research in the area.

He was speaking at the valedictory function of the 35th All India Conference of Dravidian Linguists here on Saturday.

He said much is needed to be done in the area of linguistics in the country. “The Afro-Dravidian study centre at Thiruvananthapuram is a step forward in this direction. There is ample scope for studies and documentation in the area.

We are willing to offer scholarships and support individuals who are interested in working further on this. Young people are not coming forward to opt for the field since there is lack of awareness.  This needs working on,” he said.
