In recent times there has been a trend toward spiritualism with people from all walks of life looking for ways to connect with their inner self.  This is manifested in the increasing interest in gospel and choir music among youngsters. Everyone needs a reason for living. For the Firebrands, the reason is worship and what exactly is Worship - It is acknowledging God as the sovereign authority over all creation. It is praising God for who He is, rather than what He has done or can do for us. The Firebrands Mission states, "As God's creation, made to Worship Him, we will through Songs and Praise invite God's presence into the lives of people that they might live for God's glory."

Firebrands is a group of youngsters who have joined together since 2002 conducting praise and worship concerts in Bangalore, in an age where being religious is not the 'in thing.',  The believe that it is cool to love God and to worship Him.

Firebrands is a platform envisioned by Lawrence G (Composer and Song writer), Santosh J, Anand S, Deepak F, Mark T, Shiju T, as a vehicle to facilitate collaboration with other inspired artists in a quest to bring fresh original music to the gospel music fraternity in India. All of them are great friends who worship together at the Garden City Assembly of God, a church which is Vibrant in Praise and worship.

Between 2002 and 2005 they did cover versions of popular gospel musicians and singers like Petra, Ron Kenoly, Don Moen. Says Lawrence, "We were seriously thinking of forming a band to portray our love for music. We started of with lot of prayers, love and support from Rev Ernest George, Senior Pastor at Garden City Church.
“Since then we have been perfecting our skills to sing, compose and present our songs to various sets of audiences ever since we got our big break".

And that break came in 2002 when they performed at the Gurunanak Bhavan on February 12 before an audience of over a thousand people and since then, there has been no looking back!

"Our zest for worship-centered music has inspired us to form this band …" they say in unison as they go forth and realise better and innovative ways to spread God's Word. Their latest CD, “All for love”, contains 12 tracks and also a video for one of the songs.
