Hello bhaiyya! Please buy a rose for your madam; Hi uncle! Please buy a rose for madam; Excuse me, sir, madam ke liye ek rose lijiyena...
Anyone can recall these gentle persuasive requests from little marketers at the Barton Centre on MG Road. Roses are what they sell but life is definitely not a bed of roses for these young girls. Between 6 pm and 11 pm every evening, Sabreena and her two sisters are at this workspot armed with roses.
Symbol of love
After school, they have time neither for games nor television as they are one of the breadwinners for their families. It is a different matter that they enjoy what they do.
Rose is a symbol of love and everyone is fond of it. This definitely makes their jobs easier.
They offer roses to couples who stroll on MG Road to enjoy a beautiful evening. They egg on people to buy with their imploring looks and pleasing words. These innocent faces will, of course, make anyone willingly buy a rose.
They’re pleasant
Most people who shop or walk at MG Road just smile at them; some gladly buy the roses impressed with their marketing abilities; some remember the women in their lives and invest in a rose with a smile across their faces. No doubt a few people also ignore them and laugh at the consistent pleas of the girls.
Their marketing skills can teach a graduate in marketing many things. The same goes with their attitude towards work which can put lazy adults to shame. Their hardwork is a lesson for all of us.
A bit of philosophy
Some of them are quite philosophical too. One of these cute girls said, “God has already assigned a duty to all of us and we are performing it.”
Whenever you visit MG Road, do buy a rose from one of these little ones for your girlfriend or beloved one. Your gesture will contribute towards running her family.
