Radio Ga Ga
Radio is surely popular with the young. And Radio City 91.1 FM plans to introduce more user-friendly programmes to cash in on the growing popularity.
Whatte Fun is the next big thing that Radio City plans to introduce. According to Rana Barua, Whatte Fun hopes to target 25 to 34 year-olds.
At Whatte Fun people will get to view a video launched by a Radio Station, perhaps, for the first time. It will extend to include contests and advertisements as well.
According to Barua, the Radio Industry has witnessed a 40 percent growth. “The audience wants music, interaction and fun,” says Barua and adds that the new programmes will have a lot more energy.
“There will be a lot of communication and more contests will be held. The improved programming includes energetic nine to 12 shows that will play English music. The breakfast show will have a lot of interactions.”
It comes as no surprise to Rana Barua that Radio City won the award for ‘Station of the Year” at the Promax Awards.
“Bangalore Radio Stations have always stood out,” he says. The RJ of the Year award also went to Vasanthi, an RJ from Bangalore.
Radio City is currently expecting twenty licences. Baroda is likely to be the next destination and Ahmedabad thereafter. A few of the various cities who will mostly have Radio City by July or August include Pune, Vizag. Coimbatore.
