Bear mauls two in Chintamani

Chintamani, dhns:  A bear attacked several people and seriously injured two in Hosahudya village, near Julapalya on Sunday. The injured have been hospitalised.

Narasimhappa and Subbanna went into the forest searching for missing a cattle and a bear attacked them and bit their arms, thighs. On hearing their scream people working at a nearby field came rushing and took them to the hospital.

Incidentally there are no transport facilities from Hosahudya. People have to walk 3 km to reach Julapalya, from where only one bus transports commuters. The injured were brought to the hospital after much hardship, the families said.

YSV Datta turns 53

Bangalore, dhns: Janata Dal (Secular) MLC and the party’s national president H D Deve Gowda’s trusted lieutenant Y S V Datta celebrated his 53rd birthday in Bangalore on Sunday.

Ganapathi homa was performed at Datta’s Rajajinagar residence. Among the dignitaries who attend the function and greeted Dutta include Gowda and his wife. In fact, Gowda stayed at Datta’s residence for nearly four hours.

Market yard may be shifted

Bangalore, dhns: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has directed the officials to expedite the process of shifting the wholesale fruit and vegetable market yard from Kalasipalyam to Byatarayanapura.

According to a release from the chief minister’s secretariat, the chief minister gave this direction following a suggestion from several farmers during his visit to SAFAL - the whosale fruit and vegetable market centre of National Dairy Development Board - at Hoskote.
