Former union minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Chief Shibu Soren escaped unhurt on Monday when a bomb went off at Dumaria village on Sarath-Madhupur road in Jharkhand’s Deoghar district, minutes after a convoy carrying the JMM Chief passed the area.
Confirming this, Deoghar Superintendent of Police (SP) Manoj Kausik said that a combing operation has been launched to nab the miscreants involved in the incident. He, however, ruled out the possibility of the involvement of naxalites in the blast.
According to the police, the incident occurred at around 1:00 pm when Soren was being brought to Dumka Central Jail after being produced before a court at Giridih in connection with the Kudko murder case registered against him in 1974. However, no casualties occurred in the blast.
Soren is currently serving a life term after his conviction in the murder case of his private secretary, Shashinath Jha.
