Belgaum has been getting heroin from Masur, a small town on the Rajastan-Madhya Pradesh border. As the city is becoming a ‘transit point’ and getting good quantity of narcotics, a senior police official of CoD, Mr Balaji Singh (DSP) has rushed to the city for investigation, on Monday.
Meanwhile, Md Abdul Rehman and Basavaraj Naganure, arrested, on Friday for possessing heroin packets in Belgaum, has been extended for six more days.
According to sources, four more from Belgaum are involved in packing and supplying heroin, which was reaching the city in transport vehicles from Rajastan.
Heroin was being packed in the packets of Black Diamond and Gupta tea powder before it was taken out of Belgaum.
The CoD had got a tip off on the supply of drugs to Belgaum from North India six months ago. The police succeeded in catching two of the accused at the city bus stand only, on Friday, with packets of heroin. The drugs racket has come to light close on the heels of another major drug scandal, which was busted by the Belgaum police recently.
