A delegation will meet Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Revenue Minister Jagadish Shetter in the coming week with the demand to declare Ajjampura hobli as a separate taluk, stated Zilla Panchayat Member Savithramma A C Chandrappa in a release.
Despite its uniqueness due to a rich cultural background and educational institutions, the residents of Ajjampura should approach Tarikere town for any of their works in government offices.
The people in the border areas of the taluk like Bukkambudhi, Shivani, Cheeranahalli and Mudigere should travel 50-60 kms to reach the taluk centre, for which they have to spend a whole day, the release complained.
Though the proposal for the new taluk had been submitted even a decade ago, no development has taken place in this regard, the release stated.
The delegation will comprise members irrespective of parties, including the president of Ajjampura Gram Panchayat, Vice-President, all members, the taluk panchayat and zilla panchayat members of the region and the seniors of the villages, it added.
