Ward committee
In an attempt to encourage community participation in administration, MCC has decided to set up ward committees and ward sabhas in the Mysore city limits. For 65 wards, the MCC intends to set up 20 ward committees and 65 sabhas, MCC Commissioner K N Chandrashekar said.
Every committee will involve the ward’s elected representative or the councillor, five from general public who have experience in municipal administration and are nominated by the government, two representatives from community organisations and NGOs, he added. The ward sabha will have the councillor as its president.
It will also have two from the general public and two from NGOs, nominated by the MCC, as its members. Only those residing in the particular ward committee limits will be considered for nominations.
They should also be well versed with municipal administration and have a will to serve the people. No benefit will be provided to them by the corporation. The interested individuals and institutions may collect applications from the MCC PRO’s office and submit the same before July 5. For more information contact the PRO’s office.
