District-in-Charge Minister B Nagaraj Shetty has said that measures have been taken to clear the confusion among the lorry drivers regarding their movement on the Shiradi Ghat stretch of NH 48.
Speaking to Deccan Herald here on Tuesday, Mr Shetty said he had already spoke with the Deputy Commissioners of both Dakshina Kannada and Hassan districts, in order to clear the confusion regarding two different orders.
It can be recalled here that confusion had been created among the heavy vehicle drivers due to the different orders issued by two DCs.
While Dakshina Kannada DC had banned the movement of all loaded heavy vehicles on the Shiradi Ghat stretch of NH 48 for month since June 15, the Hassan DC had restricted the movement only in between 8 pm and 5 am.
Mr Shetty said the Hassan DC would soon issue an order similar to that of the Dakshina Kannada.
Unaware of the differences in orders, the lorry drivers had been caught under problems as they were stopped midway at Gundya by the Uppinangady police. More than 500 lorries had queued up at Gundya as they were not allowed to use the route for the past two days.
The lorry drivers met the minister on Tuesday, when he was on his way to a programme in Uppinangady, and revealed their crisis. The lorries were allowed to move from the place later.
