The bridges under construction on the Gundya-Subrahmanya road will be completed soon, said District-in-Charge Minister B Nagaraj Shetty.
He was speaking after dedicating a bridge at Punjalakatte in Belthangady taluk for the public, constructed at a cost of Rs 60 lakh, on Tuesday.
He said Rs 5 crore had been sanctioned for constructing bridges connecting Sarapady-Kadeshwalya-Ajilamogru. New bridges will be constructed across the State in the place of the old ones; Plans have been chalked out for asphaltation of roads and construction of new bridges, he informed.
Three government First Grade Colleges, two polytechnic colleges, a fire station at a cost of Rs 2 crore, 100-bedded hospital and a special wing for children have already been sanctioned for Bantwal taluk. Punjalakatte Primary Health Centre will be upgraded, he said.
Plans are there to establish a Morarji Desai Residential School in Vagga and Panje Mangeshwara Rao Memorial Auditorium in Bantwal at a cost of Rs 50 lakh, Mr Shetty added.
Weekly meetings
Mr Shetty said weekly Gramasamparka Sabhas would be conducted in all villages of the State from July. Petitions of the villagers will be received and solutions will be given on the spot. Electricity supply and toilet facility to each house are the priorities, he said.
ZP Member K Sundar Salian presided. Movement of heavy vehicles like trucks and lorries is prohibited for the next 3 days on the bridge. However, other vehicles are allowed to ply from Tuesday itself.
