After a brief lull, Air India is in news again for wrong reasons.
National carrier’s Bangkok-bound plane from Mumbai faced hydraulic problems and landed in emergency conditions here on Tuesday. The aircraft was carrying 154 passengers.
AI-348’s pilot detected the technical glitch and landed the Airbus 310 safely at around noon as emergency personnel were kept on standby.
Normal landing
“The pilot felt there was some problems in the hydraulic system and decided to land. However, the landing was normal. The aircraft was taxied to the technical area for a check,” Air India’s northern India regional director D S Kohli said.
“The passengers would be flown to Bangkok and Tokyo in the evening and to other destinations thereafter. They are being accommodated at the airport and served refreshments,” said Mr Kohli.
Nevertheless, there were angry scenes at the airport.
With over 125 passengers scheduled to board the flight in Delhi, heated arguments ensued as they argued with the Air India officials over the delay.
A stranded passenger claimed: “The Air India flight has been indefinitely delayed and they are not able to say anything.”
