AMC, the multinational company that sells surgical steel cookware in India through direct selling model, will soon launch its food vacuuming machine Powervac. AMC Powervac is a kitchen appliance which draws air out of a storage container or plastic bag in seconds to keep the food fresh for longer time.
Air, though vital to life, causes damage to most of our food and vegetables as oxygen destroys vitamins, attacks colour, taste and aroma. To retain all these and to extend storage life, oxygen must be sucked out of the package.
Special plastic bags
AMC’s Powervac which comes with specially made plastic bags and sealing system, will thus be a boon to homemakers.
AMC India CEO David R Stanley told Deccan Herald that “Powervac was launched in Europe three years ago. In India it will be in the market in August this year.” To begin with, however, Powervac will be available only to AMC’s customers who buy the cookware sets. The price tag at around Rs 10,000 will also be steep. At a later stage the company is likely to sell the machine as a stand alone product, said Mr Stanley. Meanwhile, AMC has also embarked upon an ambitious expansion plan. Primarily being south India based, AMC’s revenue is small at Rs 45 crore (expected in 2007). The company is now planning to invest Rs 22 crore the next 3 years to expand its branch network in north India to increase its number of branches to 112 from present 23.
“As a result of the new aggressive business plan, we hope our revenue will cross Rs 140 crore by 2012”, Mr Stanley said. The company also plans to expand the product range by introducing various innovative kitchen appliances in the coming years.
