Ciscos Telepresence to cut travel costs
Bangalore, dhns:

Cisco Systems, on Wednesday showcased its telepresence solution for the emerging markets in India.
Cisco Systems Vice President India & Saarc (Advanced Technologies Business Development) Ranajoy Punja said, “the telepresence applications deliver real-time, face-to-face interactions between people and places in their work and personal lives, using advanced visual, audio and collaboration technologies.
Standard technology
These applications use the standard IP technology deployed in corporations today and run on an integrated voice/video/data network.
The conferencing can start with a press of a button, between national as well as international locations. “Since we launched the system in December 2006, we are currently looking to deploy about 10 to 15 systems in the top 500 companies in India,” Mr Punja said.
As it takes only a month to install and get the system running, we might see a growth in the SMB sector for a single point-to-point connection, he further said.
Nowadays most of the companies are present across the globe.
“To carry out interactions and support decision-making the telepresence tool will prove to be a major boost,” Mr Punja further pointed out.
