In a mockery of traffic rules on M G Road, cars were parked along the no-parking side of the road all through Wednesday.
Before traffic policemen manning the stretch could wake up to the development, cars had already lined up on the stretch between Cauvery Emporium Junction and the point where the Metro work barricade ends.
“This is a no-parking zone. Probably, one of the cars was parked here by mistake and the others followed, under the impression that parking is allowed on this side of the road,” a traffic policeman said.
He was later seen taking down the parked cars’ numbers. The violators will have to shell out Rs 100 as fine, he said.
The ‘parking zone’ partially hit vehicular movement from one side of the road - from Anil Kumble Circle towards Cauvery Emporium Junction - that has already been narrowed due to the barricade erected as part of work on Bangalore Metro.
By evening, the stretch had around 20 cars parked. Interestingly, by then, people had started parking vehicles and heading for Church Street and Brigade Road, even as the policemen looked on.
“All the violators will be served notices,” was the response.
