Heavy rainfall and gusty wind have resulted in Rs 12.36 crore loss in the district, apart from the death of 12 people, including 3 children.
Deputy Commissioner N A Krishnan Kutty revealed this during a meeting to review the rain situation in the district, held at the DC’s office here recently.
A total of 41 houses have completely collapsed while 460 houses have been partially damaged in Hosadurga district. In Kasaragod taluk, a total of 28 houses have been totally collapsed and 327 houses have been partially damanged. The government has released Rs 20 lakh for immediate distribution, he informed.
Rs 6.03 crore loss has been incurred in the agricultural sector. Crops have been ruioned in an estimated area of 622 acre. Losses of Rs 2 crore due to bad roads, Rs 3 crore due to sea erosion has been incurred, he informed.
Mr Kutty said Rs 36 lakh loss has been experriece by the PWD building itself, while Rs 15 lakh for Kerala Water Authority, Rs 31 lakh loss due to disruption in the power distribution mechanism It will take another 4 days to set right the disrupted electicity supply system, he said.
