HEAVY RAIN
38 houses damaged in Dakshina Kannada

As many as 38 houses have been completely damaged in the heavy rains that lashed the district in the past few days, said Deputy Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao.

He said that 298 houses have been partially damaged in the district.

According to a press release, property worth 1260.29 lakh has been destroyed in the rainfall. PWD property worth Rs 265 lakh, Rs 25 lakh worth National Highways, property worth Rs 530 lakh of Zilla Panchayat, R 45 lakh property of Mescom and Rs 175 lakh property of fisheries department have been destroyed in the rainfall.

Ganji centres have been opened for those who have been affected with sea erosion in Ullal.  Fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea. District control room will be functioning 24 hours in district and taluk headquarters. Special teams have been formed to conduct a survey on the damage due to the rain.
