The losses incurred in the district due to the recent heavy rains amounts to Rs 25.77 crore, as per initial estimates.
This was stated by Sports and Youth Service Minister Hanumantappa Alkod, who is also in-charge of the district.
Speaking to the reporters here on Wednesday at Deputy Commissioner's office chambers after conducting a meeting with all department officials here, the minister warned that the amount may later rise.
The minister said that the report will be sent to the government immediately, seeking swift action.
More than 11,000 houses have collapsed in the district and 262 cattle head have perished, Mr Alkod said, adding that there was sufficient funds to meet this.
“If necessary, we will request the government for additional funds,” the minister told reporters.
The minister also said that repairing the Maski bridge was of topmost priority and the works would be taken up soon.
Mr Alkod also warned of taking disciplinary action against those officials who were found to be negligent in performing their duty.
Deputy Commissioner Dr J Ravishankar was also present.
