Hanamantaraya Nagavi (45), a farmer of Kurnalli village in Jewargi taluk has commited suicide at his residence on Tuesday night. Reports reaching here said the farmer ended his life owing to his increasing financial liabilities.
Hanamantaraya is said to have availed a loan of Rs.40,000 from the Krishna Grameen Bank and another Rs.80,000 from private parties.
However, his failure to repay the loan had upset him and consequently he ended his life by hanging himself at his home. The Nelogi police have registered a case.
Snake bite
Another farmer has died due to snake bite. Basavaraj Kodalahangarga of Zalki (K) village in Aland taluk was bitten by a snake while ploughing his field. He was rushed to the district general hospital in Gulbarga where he breathed his last.
Sets ablaze
A newly married woman committing suicide by setting herself ablaze has been reported from Tumkur village in Yadgir taluk. Devamma Basavaraj (20), who was married just 45 days a ended her life by setting herself ablaze at her home. The reasons for the act are not immediately known. Gurmitkal police have registered a case.
