District in-charge Minister Hanumantappa Alkod on Wednesday took the City Municipal Council officials for supplying polluted drinking water to the city.

What triigered the minister’s wrath was a bottle of impure water placed before him at a meeting here.

Upon coming to know that the same water was being supplied to the residents of the city as drinking water, the furious minister summoned CMC officials and blasted them. He also warned the officials that such a thing was not to be repeated.

Clarification

However, the CMC officials clarified to the minister that there was no stock of alum and bleaching powder for water purification.

However, the same was being procured and both alum and bleaching powder were being treated at the filter bed. They further promised that the city would get pure water in a couple of days. The minister was also told of improper pipeline system in a few areas which resulted in contaminated water being supplied to those areas.
