Power disruption in Chittapur

A number of villages in Chittapur taluk including Chittapur town are facing severe disruption in power supply due to failure of 5 MVA current transformer of the 33/11 KV sub station in Chittapur.

The villages which are facing power problem are Gundagurti, Dandoti, Bhagodi, Tengli, Allolli, Satnur, Diggaon, Yagapur, Ladlapur and Yargal. Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company has asked power consumers of Chittapur and other villages to co-operate with it till the tranformer was set right.

Applications invited

Applications have been invited from backward class and minority students for admission to post matric boys hostel in Gurmitkal and post matric girls and boys hostel at Yadgir for the academic year 2007-08.

Students residing in the 5-km radius of the said hostels are eligible for admission. The last date for submitting applications to the Chief Executive Officer of the Taluk Panchayat, Yadgir, is July 9. Application forms and details can be obtained from the said office.

New planning officer

Yankob Sarjapur has taken over as the District Planning Officer of the Karnataka State Women Development Corporation on Tuesday. The Corporation’s district office is implementing the Devadasi Rehabilitation Scheme in the district. He had earlier worked in the same capacity at Bellary. Untouchability eradication

The social welfare department intends to take up untouchability eradication programme in Kadcharla, Chitaganpalli and Madkal villages of Sedam taluk for the year 2007-08.

It has invited applications from NGOs for taking up mass awareness programmes through cultural activities such as street plays, singing songs, etc; Eligible NGOs have been asked to send their proposals to the Sedam Taluk Social Welfare Officer before July 10.
