Randhawa leads the pack

Delhi's Raj Randhawa shot a two-over 74 to sit atop the leader-board with a two-day tally of five-over 149 at the Coimbatore Amateur Golf Championship at the par-72 Coimbatore Golf Club on Wednesday.
ONGC's Vikram Rana brought in the day's best card of level-par 72 to share the second place with Moin Malak at 150. Malak shot a 74. Overnight leader Gagan Verma was placed fourth at 151 after shooting a 79, while Samaresh Sardar and Simarjeet Singh were tied for fifth place at 152. Sardar shot a 77 while Simarjeet carded a 79 in the second round.
Abhishek Jha and Mithun Perera brought in identical cards of 77 each to share the seventh place at 153. Jaibir Singh (75), BR Raja (78) and K Prabagaran (79) were a further two strokes behind in tied ninth place at 155.
Randhawa, who teed off from the tenth hole, started badly with bogeys on the opening two holes, followed by a birdie on the 13th. A bogey on the 14th saw him make the turn at two-over. On his return leg, Randhawa birdied the third but dropped shots on the sixth and eighth. A birdie on the ninth saw him end the day at 74.

Fine form

Rana was in fine form as he played consistent golf for his score of level-par 72. A tenth tee starter, he shot four birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey. He started with a birdie on the 11th but dropped shots on the 12th and 14th. A birdie on the 15th saw him turn at level par. On his return leg, Rana birdied the second, double bogeyed the eighth and ended the day with a birdie on the ninth.
