Denying charges of any serious relationship with nurse B V Jayalakshmi, key witness in the B V Jayalakshmi case agai-nst BJP MLA M P Renu-kacharya, former MLA of Honnalli D G Shantanagowda has informed the Karnataka Women’s Commission that he was just a friend of Jayalakshmi.
In his statement to the Commision’s chairperson Pramila Nesargi on Wednesday, Shantangowda said: “I know Jayalakshmi since 1999 when she was working as a nurse in Honnalli. Initially she called me requesting me to find a job for her sister. Jayalakshmi and I became friends’’.
“On one occasion, Jayalakshmi was threatened by Renukacharya at her house. Upon her request, I assured help. Apart from this, I have no connection with her”, he said in his statement.
