Confusion over housing schemes
ZP to discuss with DC
DH News Service, Mangalore:
Responding to the queries of the ZP members during the 7th general meeting of the DK ZP, ZP Chief Executive Officer (CEO) A M Kunjappa said he would write to the DC inviting him for the next meeting so that he (the DC) could clear the doubts regarding various issues, to be dealt only by him.

The DC will be invited for the next general meeting of Zilla Panchayat in order to discuss the issues regarding housing scheme and title deeds, said ZP Chief Executive Officer (CEO) A M Kunjappa.

Responding to the queries of the ZP members during the 7th general meeting of the DK ZP, he said he would write to the DC inviting him for the next meeting so that he (the DC) could clear the doubts regarding various issues, to be dealt only by him.

ZP former president Mamatha D S Gatti said all members need to ask the Deputy Commissioner about the unsolved crisis regarding the distribution of title deeds and allocation of a minimum of 3 cents of land.

The members liek Sucharitha Shetty, Sundar Gowda Icchila, Krishna Amin, Shavul Hamid and Babu Mogera supported the issue.Opposition member A C Bhandary said land had been allotted to only a total of 16 families in Phajeeru, while 300 acres of land had been sanctioned for a private company in the nearby area.

ID to disabled

The CEO informed the House that identity cards would be distributed to all physically challenged persons in the district within March 2008. A district level committee will appoint the doctors to conduct camps at various levels who will certify the disabled on the basis of which ID cards will be distributed, he said.

TP chief condemned

A statement by Puttur Taluk Panchayat President Phakeera drew strong criticisms from the members of Opposition during the meeting. The House was discussing the issue of sanctioning a new anganwadi to Mandekolu in Sullia, which prolonged for a long time as several members involved in exchanging their views.

Amidst the discussions, Mr Phakeera stood up to say that the members “should speak about only the issues under their limits and not enter unrelated issues”.

This statement drew the ire of the Opposition members who rushed towards the well of the House and urged the president for the apology of Mr Phakeera. However, the den cooled down after some minutes when the TP chief clarified that he had made that statement in a different meaning.

‘Land encroached’

One of the members Shavul Hamid draw the attention of the House towards the encroachment of the schools premises at Ujiribettu in Belthangady taluk by the president of the SDMC of that particular school itself.

The CEO asked the Belthangady block education officer to give an immediate  report on the issue, on the basis of which further actions would be taken.
