Hyderabad Karnataka Kuruba Samaj Hitarakshana Krantikari Horata Vedike has demanded the resignation of State president of Ahinda-an organisation of backward classes and minorities-for terming Janata Dal (S) as anti-backward classes.
Vedike president Thammanna Bagewadi told media persons here on Thursday that Mukudappa who is also a former member of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) had no moral right to speak against JD (S) and its leaders as he was the beneficiary of the same party in the past.
He pointed out that when Mukudappa, hailing from Bellary district did not have any constituency in the last Assembly elections, the JD (S) gave him ticket to fight against Dharam Singh in Jewargi.
"Mukudappa got 10,000 votes in Jewargi. They are the JD S) votes and none voted for Mukudappa, the person,’’ Thammanna said.
He pointed out that after having fought against Dharam Singh in Jewargi Mukudappa later hailed Singh as a great leader and stated that he should not have contested against him. By saying so, he had insulted the voters of Jewargi, he added.
Thammanna said though Mukudappa claimed to be the State president of the Ahinda he did not have regard or concern for backward classes. He accused Mukudappa of making Siddaramaiah join Congress and also finishing the leadership of backward classes in Jewargi.
Denying that the JD (S) did not encourage backward classes, Thammanna pointed out that Yellappa Kurkundi and Saibanna Neelappgol had been made ZP presidents; Siddanagouda Wadageri had been made Milk Union president; Shahapur and Surapur taluk panchayats belonged to backward class and Bandeppa Kashempur had become a minister.
He asked backward classes not to give any credence to Mukudappa’s utterances that the JD (S) was anti-backward classes.
