North East Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NEKRTC) Chairman Subhash Kallur has said that Raichur and Sindhanur Bus stands will be modernised at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore each.
Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, he revealed that tender will be called for the same in about two months. Modernisation work will start at the earliest.
Further, a sum of Rs 50 crore has been sanctioned in the budget for providing infrastructure to the NEKRTC, out of which, Rs 7 crore is reserved for Raichur, including the work of ultra modern bus stations.
The trimix concreting work has already been completed at the Lingasugur Bus Station for parking area, at a cost of Rs 48 lakhs and at Arakera, work worth Rs 23.62 lakhs is being carried out.Altogether, a sum of Rs 303 lakhs was being spent in Raichur for the same.
The work includes upgradation of bus depots at Raichur, Deodurg, Maski, Mudgal and Sirwar. Mr Kallur further stated that so far, the Corporation had Rs 06,72,000 worth work proposal for Raichur division. Hutti Gold Mines had donated Rs 50 lakh and land towards the construction of a bus station at Hutti, he added.
Earlier, Mr Kallur visited the work sites at the bus stand and the depot and reviewed the work in progress. He was accompanied by MLA A Papa Reddy and NEKRTC Raichur Divisional Controller Muniyellappa.
