All for the love of films
Rashmi Rao

Daisy was on a whistle-stop trip to Bangalore recently and we caught up with her for a chat over coffee. “Can we meet up at Indiranagar some place? The traffic around MG Road is terrible,” she asked over the phone. But us journos like to have at least some things easy, so after a wee bit of cajoling, Daisy agreed to meet us on Brigade Road.

“I am excited about my work with Ramesh sir in Satyavan Savithri. He’s my role model, not just professionally, but even in the way he has led his life. He is perfection personified, very professional and creative,” she gushed about her new film that hits theatres today. Working on the sets of Satyavan Savithri was like working with family, said she. “I shared a good comfort level with Ramesh sir, be it the scenes or the outfits I was wearing,” she added. As for the film, Daisy’s clear that it’s a family film everyone will love watching.

She’s also busy working on her next Hindi project Toss with newcomer Prashanth. It’s taken quite a while for the release of her latest film, after Aishwarya (Kannada). “I don’t want to talk about Aishwarya. I didn’t have a good experience as far as my role was concerned. But I’ve put it behind me. I just recovered from a spinal injury and have started accepting projects now. The Kannada industry is opening up now and has some of the best roles to offer. I will choose roles depending on what I’m comfortable with. Roles can make or mar a career,” she said, showing just how far she has travelled in the industry.

We asked her if there’s anyone she wants to work with and pat came the reply: “Directors Anurag Kashyap, Deepa Mehta, Mira Nair and among actors, I’d love to work with Aamir Khan.” She added that she will always cherish working with Ramesh Arvind and Kamal Hasan, who, she called, “an astoundingly creative person, a storehouse of talent and information.”

And apart from yoga and veggie diets, Daisy has also found time for a man in her life, a Mumbai-based businessman. “But marriage is way off the mark yet,” she pointed out. And she chatted on merrily about clothes, coffee, cars...
