Several projects have been planned to help farmers, said Hyderabad-Karnataka Development Department Co-ordinator Basavaraja Patil Sedam.
Speaking at the inaugural function of Sarsavati school building, he said one village from each taluk will be selected as ‘Krishi Grama’ and farmers of the village will be given the information on modern agriculture system. Veterinary and Agriculture University will also provide required help to farmers in this regard, he added.
A workshop on Shunya Krishi has been organised for farmers which will be held from August 6 to July 8. Popular Agriculture Expert Subhash Palekar of Maharashtra will provide guidance to farmers, he said.
Moreover, awareness will be created among farmers on organic farming, cattle based farming and other occupations, he said.
Farmers will be provided with food and accomodation facility in the workshop, he added.
Students’ suicide
Being unable to live up to their parents’ expectations, Science students are committing suicide, he remarked. Most of the students who end their life will have the desire of becoming Doctors and Engineers.
As the expectations of parents and the society are very high, they take this extreme step, when they realise that success is beyond their reach, he said.
It is a wrong notion that only Engineering and Medical courses can shape the future of students, there are other courses which have equal scope, but people are ignoring such courses, he said.
This sort of craze for professional courses is not a good sign for the development of the nation, he added.
Dialogue programme has been planned to change the students’ notion of future.
Around 1 lakh students can participate in the programme. Swami Nirbhayananda will provide solution on the spot to students, he said.
