Lecture on Banjagere’s book
The Mahanta Jyothi Pratishthan is organising a lecture on the controversial book ‘Aanudeva Horaganavanu’ written by Banjagere Jayaprakash, in the city on July 1, at Khuba Kalyan Mantap.
Dr Basavaraj Sabarad and Dr H T Pothe professors of Kannada department in Gulbarga university will deliver the lecture on the book, while senior journalist Ramzan Darga will preside over the function. Neela K, Meenakshi Bali, Amruta Katke, Shanta Ashtagi and Basanna Singhe will be present on the occasion.
Goans move condemned
District unit of Kannada Sene has strongly condemned the move of certain Goa based organisations including Goa-Konkani State Unification Manch and United Gomantak Organisation for the inclusion of three taluks Karwar, Joida and Haliyal and 311 villages of Karnataka in Goa state.
District president of the Sene Shivasharanappa Khanadal urged the government to ban the Goa based organisations carrying their activities in Karnataka.
He said there is no boundary dispute whatsoever between Karnataka and Goa and certain organisations are trying to create rift between the people of two states and wanted the state government to take stringent action against such organisations.
CM promises on garden land
Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has promised to consider the demand for restoration of the land meant for garden and public utility at the P&T Colony of Kotnoor (D) layout belonging to the Karnataka Housing Board, on old Jewargi road, in the city.
A delegation of Dr B R Ambekar Multipurpose Development Service Organisation had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister, in Bangalore, directing the KHB to restore the land instead of selling it to a private party for commercial purpose.
Sports meeting today
Department of Youth Services and Sports has convened a meeting of sports persons, sports patrons, physical education teachers to discuss the development of sports in the district at Chandrashekhar Patil Stadium in the city on June 30.
