A six-year-old Tigress Varada gave birth to three litters at Pilikula zoo near here on Thursday. The cubs weighing around 1 kilogram each will take 8 to 10 days to open their eyes.
Speaking to Deccan Herald, Pilikula Nisargadhama Society Director Jayaprakash Bhandary said that the cubs will stay with the mother for the time being, but will be sent to some other zoo later. The number of tigers in the zoo has risen to 8, now with the birth of the cubs.

A leapard in the same zoo had given birth to 3 cubs on June 2. Those cubs have now started taking meat, Mr Bhandary added.
