Licences To Be Discontinued
New Delhi, June 29.
The Government of India have decided not to issue Licences in established importers during the quarter July to September, 1957.
The import policy for the quarter, announced today, however, makes a provision to enable established importers to apply for extension of the period of validity of their six-monthly licences and to ask for the conversion of the outstanding licence.

All-India Council To Be Set Up

New Delhi, June 29.
The Government of India have announced the setting up of the All-India Council of Elementary Education with effect from July 1 to serve as an advisory body to the Union and State governments and local bodies.

CM’s Favouritism Causes 22-cr Loss

Bangalore, June 29.
The Public Accounts Committee of the State Legislature has held Chief Minister Gundu Rao’s oral orders as responsible for showing favouritism to private industries and causing a loss of about Rs 22 crores to the State exchequer by suspending the rules under the Forest Act fixing the increased seigniorage rates, as per a report released here.
