When I launched my book Discover Coorg last year, I never expected that it would come up for a reprint within a year. With Kodagu (Coorg) emerging as a major tourist destination, the book found a ready market”, says P T Bopanna, a Bangalore-based journalist and author of Discover Coorg.
The new edition contains several new features mainly to cater to the first time visitor to the hill district. While retaining the cartoons of Ponnappa, more photographs have been added, including photographs from internationally renowned wildlife photographers - Krupakar-Senani.
Dr S V Narasimhan, a medical practitioner of Virajpet and the author of "Feathered Jewels of Coorg", has contributed an exclusive article on bird watching in Coorg.
Chindamada Arati Monappa, textile designer, has written a piece on Coorg jewellery, as many readers of the first edition had sought to know more about the unique jewellery of Coorg.
Coorg cuisine has become very popular with people who have visited 'home stays'.
To cater to this section, Boverianda Nanjamma Chinnappa, writer and researcher, has written an introduction to Coorg cuisine. Manavattira Sharada Mandana, who had earlier put together the recipe section of the book, has contributed a few more recipes.
