READER'S OPINION :
How can we save our environment?
ADITI SHARMA

Tariq, sales executive: I am against cutting down of trees completely. Many years back Bangalore used to be very peaceful and green,  now everything is changed. But nothing much can be done. The City is growing, we want growth, new technology and even the greenery. For that, we may need to stop the growth of software companies, which is not possible.
Sharada, Engineer: We should try to maximise utilisation of natural resources without depleting their source. Awareness must be created on the benefits of solar energy  and water harvesting. People don’t realise it, but it is important to plant more trees. The Government should make it compulsory for every house to plant one tree. I am sure it will make a big difference.
Ritesh Shetty, medical transcriptionist: Pollution has gone from bad to worse. We should definitely grow more trees. The Government should make it a point to curb pollution by making it compulsory for all vehicles on roads to use LPG / CNG kits and reduce burden on natural reserves of fuels. We should make use of the biogas plants instead of electricity, which will also help a lot.
Parvindar Kaur, teacher: We can survive only if the environment is clean and pure. If nothing is done now the younger generations will surely suffer. Due to the high levels of pollution today, a lot of new health hazards are cropping up. And our groundwater levels are decreasing. We should make it a point to minimise cutting down of trees and reduce pollution.
